Hrvatska Fešta 2010 set to rock Canberra
The Australian Croatian Club in Canberra is set to celebrate the Croatian community's contribution to the ACT region and its 41th anniversary with the best in Croatian song, food and dance.
Named “Hrvatska Fešta 2010”, the three day event will run over the weekend of 21-23 May, with the ever popular Major Minor sure to rock the Club.
It all kicks off on Friday night (21 May) with Major Minor performing live at the launch party. Major Minor will then back up again on Saturday night (22 May) for the Dinner Dance (Zabava). This spectacular night will also feature kolo performances by HFS “Croatia" and a mouth watering three course meal.
Finally, a Family Open Day will be held on Sunday (23 May). This day will be something special with heaps of entertainment for kids, including jumping castle, face painting, colouring competitions, table tennis, “kume izgorila kesa“ and much more.
Whilst for the young at heart there’ll be great food, Croatian product stalls, entertainment by Slavkovi Veseli Decki, further Kolo performances by HFS “Croatia", displays of Croatian National Costumes and something that is sure to bring back heaps of memories for long term members, the display of the old copper portraits of Croatian Kings and Princes.
Even the ACT Government is jumping on board through its Multicultural Grants Program, and why shouldn’t it, after all the significant contribution by Croatians to the ACT Region should be acknowledged and celebrated.

ACT Government helps out Hrvatska Fešta 2010
In a coup for the Australian Croatian Club in Canberra, it has secured ACT Government support for its Hrvatska Fešta 2010. As per last year’s 40th anniversary celebrations, the 21-23 May Fešta will be a celebration of the Croatian community and its significant contribution to the Canberra and Queanbeyan region.
The three day event will once again feature two Major Minor performances, with the Friday night concert followed by the Saturday Gala Zabava. The Fešta will end with a Family Open Day at the Club with heaps of activities for the kids and entertainment for those young at heart.
A Club spokesman noted, the Croatian community sure has found a friend in the ACT Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Ms Joy Burch MLA. Her attendance at last year’s 40th celebrations, ongoing offers of support and this grant really are greatly appreciated.
The money, paid under the ACT Government’s Multicultural Grants Program, will assist the club with some of the event’s administrative costs and should provide great moral support to all the volunteers who will play their part in putting together one unforgettable weekend in the Nation’s Capital.
